Scalar Sweeps

Updated: Jan 20, 2023

We often associate arpeggios with the term "Sweep Picking", but we can employ this same technique to scales as well. It's also referred to as "Economy Picking" as it describes the efficiency of the pick crossing the strings. The result is the ability to play a flurry of notes with minimal effort.

Here's a great 5 note exercise to help you get started with Sweep Picking. When using this technique, the pick should feel like a baseball card flapping through the spokes of a bicycle. The line works over F/G, D-7, FMaj7, B7alt, and E, E7#9#5, E7b9#5, C7sus4. #guitar #sweeppicking ,#speedpicking, #guitarlesson #economypicking #practiceslowly
