Performance Outline:

 

From memory

 

  1. Head: Play the melody clearly.

  2. Harmonic Outline:

    • Two-feel on A and C sections

    • Walking bass (4) on A’ and B sections

  3. Guide Tones: Outline chordal movement and voice leading.

  4. Solo Etude 1: Perform assigned etude.

  5. Improvisation: Create an original solo that outlines the harmony.

  6. Head Out: Return to the melody to close.

Grading Criteria:

 

  • Accuracy

  • Tone production/quality of notes

  • Groove
