Surf's Up!

We're going to take a step back from the previous guitar blog post (Triad Pairs & Rhythmic Excitement!) and see which chord works with the F and G triad pairs. Actually, all seven chords of C Major work but when I wrote the etude I was thinking G7 or G13. The F triad yields b7, 9, 4 and the G triad yields 1, 3, 5 over G7. It's essentially G Mixolydian minus the 6th scale degree. One advantage of using triad pairs is that it generates intervals like 3rds and 4ths, thereby creating interesting melodic contours in your playing. Ride the wave.
