Thought You Knew the Major Scale?

When I learn new items on guitar, I like to break things down into smaller and more manageable units, known as "chunking". Playing a major scale sounds easy enough, however, there's a lot involved and therefore, more room for error; you have to get the correct order of steps in between notes, and if you're playing the scale in position (vertically), you have to know intervals when crossing strings--forget about it!
