Walking Bass Accompaniment

This technique is not only fun to play, but one that you must know if you play jazz guitar! It will give you the illusion of two separate instruments; guitar and bass. Try it, you'll like it!

This page comes from INTRO TO IMPROV, a book I've written to help students get a head start in learning the basics of guitar. It's goal is to provide students with the necessary musical devices used in playing improvised music, whether it's jazz, rock, bluegrass, etc. I've been using it with students for decades now, and I highly recommend it as one of the starting books. It also serves as an ear training and music theory method while jamming with cool backing tracks.

That's Jeff, a student and an active NYC musician, who went through the book and loves it!
